The guy I spoke gave me an estimated quote over the phone just by hearing the items that I was going to ask them to take and gave me a timeframe of 9-12 for Thursday. I got a call the day of at 8:35 that they were on their way and would arrive in 30 minutes. They were exactly on time, if not a couple minutes early. They took no time in removing my items, including a very stubborn couch that they had to bust out a saw for. They even helped me clean up the bigger pieces of couch debris. When they were done, the estimated price was exactly what I paid. The three guys that came were respectful, helpful, and efficient.
There was a brief moment when I called the office before my appointment wondering if there was a confirmation and I was told by a lady in the office that they aren’t sending confirmations because they’re short staffed. Which I only bring up because a lot of companies will use being short staffed as an excuse to get away with treating customers poorly or make excuses for poor time management and customer service. Not these guys! I’m very impressed with the work they did and will hire them again if I need anything removed.
TL;DR : they’re fantastic, efficient, honest and worth the dime

They took all the stuff (filled about 3/4th of the truck) I had placed inside the garage (broken furniture and other/trashy items plus thrift store worthy items such as books and clothes). Not cheap (costed me around $600 based on my items filling 3/4th of the truck) but it was all worth it.

I had a pretty negative experience with College HUNKS for a moving service. The movers were nice, they even gave me one for free. Yet they absolutely took me to the CLEANERS. Tell me why it was $839 to move less than two miles across Washington DC and cheaper to move my life from Michigan to DC only one year earlier. Again, the staff was nice, quick, courteous, but they also pushed services on me without really telling me what they were for or alerting me that they weren’t required. Honestly, I felt slightly taken advantage of. For example, they show up with giant cardboard boxes on wheels and say each one costs $30 (so I paid $90 total for 3) and they don’t really tell you that you can refuse them because they just come up to your door with them—they claim it makes the service faster therefore saving you money because it’s an hourly service. That’s insane! But wait…there’s more!
Also during transport some of my dishes broke and the corner of my coffee table was chipped (see pictures). I paid extra for the insurance ($50 or something) to ensure I could file a claim if something like this happened. Well, the claim system doesn’t exist. The movers also failed to take two of my dumbbells off the truck, so I’m short two 15 lbs dumbbells. After I finally figured out how to submit a claim for the broken and missing items, I got the run around for months! In fact, I still haven’t talked to someone on the local office about my claim (see screenshots for the first email I got back from them and the most recent one, a month apart but several months after the service). Corporate emailed back and said the local chain will email me or call me next day. Do you think that happened? (No). I’m extremely frustrated because this happened at the end of April 2024 and it’s the end of August and nothing has happened. I’m hoping this draws attention to the issue. I should be reimbursed for the damages, don’t you think?
Really nice people but poor management, it seems.

We were honest about how much stuff we had and the initial time estimate was in line with what our moves have taken in the past, but that was a difficult punch to roll with on the day of.
However, I also want to acknowledge the things we liked, which were good enough that I’d hire this company again. We booked within a week of our move, and the process of getting an appointment and communication on the day-of was really great. The three movers (Trevor, Jack, and Michael L) were really wonderful to work with. They communicated well through the process, took great care with our things, and worked very hard for us in a move involving three flights of stairs and no elevator. The over-time was not due to any slacking on their parts, and they were wonderful to us about letting us know when it looked like we’d need to extend the labor hours so we could get everything done. They were polite, lovely young people who did their absolute best for us, and I was glad to have them in our house touching our stuff. They were good about checking in about items that seemed fragile or old, and put in a very long day for us. They’re young guys (as you’d expect from the company name), and I suspect that our previous move time experiences had a lot to do with our previous company hiring older, more experienced movers. We have moved a lot over the years, and I can say that these movers were among the most pleasant and hard-working fellows we’ve had.
Bottom line, I’d recommend this company to a friend, and we will likely be calling them again for our next move. Our things are all in their original condition and my poor spouse’s back has not been thrown out. If a lot of stairs are involved next time, I’ll plan for longer hours. Trevor was particularly outstanding as a team leader and project manager. He took good care of us AND his team, and that’s always wonderful to see in a working person. While the unplanned cost was a bit of a lump to swallow, I’m not angry that it went to their hard labor. We did also tip them, and did it with gratitude.
